Ever wish you knew someone who would congratulate you for turning down that second helping, or for dropping another pound, or for needing to belt those too-loose jeans? How about someone who can persuade you to forgive yourself and keep trying? Most of us simply have nobody -- no buddy -- to help with our weight loss goals.
Frankly, I believe it's that weekly check-in at Weight Watchers that does the trick, more than the diet itself. The feeling that someone cares -- that someone is watching. A buddy.
So let's end the no-buddy problem. On Mondays, we'll check in to celebrate all of our victories for the week, whether that's a new low on the scale, great will power, exercising regularly or other healthy habits. Through the week, we can post our hints and tips and ask for advice and support. What works for you? What doesn't?
Because progress isn't measured only on the scale. It's in combining all the "ingredients" of a healthy lifestyle.
Good luck, buddies -- talk to you Monday!

2 lbs this week. Finally made it to 10!
Louise
CONGRATULATIONS Louise! That's great news! Can you imagine... 10 pounds of butter (my imagery) gone! Thanks too for the tip on the website. I'm going to add it to it's on thread, so everyone will see it.
Awesome Louise! I'll bet you're noticing a big difference in how your clothes fit.
I'm down three pounds this week, after liberal applications of exercise and some sensible eating. I'm liking the exercise -- keeps me stress-free and unhungry. I figure with all the cardio and two pounds a week for a while, I'll be in great shape for soccer and frisbee this summer.
Thanks for the cool link, Louise. I'm going to check it out.
Another 2 lbs this week.I wasn't sure if I was going to get there since I had Mcdonald's on Wed.
I'm down another pound, but it feels like more. My legs and arms are looking stronger, and the cardio work is showing up in my soccer game. At the gym, a personal trainer said I'd do better with a substantial weights program, both for boosting my game and losing weight, but I'm not sure I buy into that.
WAY TO GO LADIES! Both my yo-yo sisters are doing very well and hope you'll be receptive to our new Sister. I'm going to add in Tiffany now. Keep up the great work! Sue :)
Lou, you've been doing great!
I'm down another pound. I'm also noticing my eating habits are changing -- more fruit and veggies and protein, less bread and sugar and fat. I'm also not enjoying the sugary or high-fat foods. They're starting to upset my stomach.
Welcome Tiffany. Keep us posted on your progress!
Hey your doing fantastic! As of this morning I finally made it 20.5 lbs. YAHOO next 20 here I come!
I had Chinese food on Friday and almost died. My stomach was so sore, not used to it anymore. Eating a lot of fruit, veggies and yogurt myself.
Down another two pounds.
Heather
You Ladies rock! Keep up the great work and know that I am CHEERING for you from the stands! Sue :D
PS~Almost launch time for new website you Ladies are going to love! Will send news soonest!
Down another two. This is more like it! I guess my workouts at the gym have finally begun to counteract the deadly duo of winter lethargy and Easter candy.
Only one month of heavy-duty gym workouts left -- my membership ends May 5. Then it's soccer, frisbee and biking all the way, baby! I think spring is finally starting to spring.
How are you doing, Lou?
Hi Heather,
I am down 23 lbs so far, and feeling much better. New jeans a size smaller! Back at the store next week, so the exercise begins. I am hoping to be down another 2 lbs by weigh in on Monday. Good news I'll let you know. You are doing great! My parents are doing well too, and the lady I work with as lost 12 pounds in her first month. Take care and talk to you soon. Louise
Way to go, Louise!! The pounds just keep melting off you -- will I even recognize you next time I see you? *GRINS*
I'm down another two pounds with three weeks to run in the gym membership, and twice-weekly soccer bootcamp conditioning sessions beginning at the end of the month. By the time my outdoor soccer teams and ultimate frisbee team start up after Victoria Day, I'm hoping to have dropped another 5 to 10 pounds.
My saggy jeans are crying out for a belt but I'm not buying new ones until the fall. Besides, there's a real feeling of accomplishment from hauling them up all the time. It's a constant reminder that I'm losing weight. Let's hope I don't lose my pants, though!
I'm looking forward to a summer packed with three games of solid running a week and plenty of active time with the kids. I'll be a shadow of my former self by the fall -- I hope!
We rock, Lou!
Heather
Yep Heather, I agree, we Rock.. and Roll and whole lot less!
I have lost another 4 lbs this week. I have a half pound to go for the 30 mark. How much have you lost in total?
The jeans are definately baggy, I am giving some of mine away. The belt is now on the last hole.
I stopped eating dinner at 8 pm and that has made a huge difference in how I feel. With the store now being open, I was eating late, so now I eat dinner at work. I always figured it was my problem, and of course it is. I just cannot eat meals that late..may as well glue to the hips etc.
I won't be running at least not the way you do, but I will be on the go for the next 3 months!
P.S. I have lost almost as much weight as what Isaak weighs 'lol'.
Take care and kepp up the great work!
Louise
Four pounds! Way to go, Louise! It's new jeans and a new belt for you, baby!
I have lost 2 pounds this week which brings me lower than I've been since 1991 -- not bad!
I've lost 13 pounds since New Year's, but I'm down 32 since starting soccer last year. I've still got a-"weighs" to go.
I weighed 130 on my wedding day after dieting to get into my mom's dress -- man, I looked good! I don't think that I'll ever weigh under 140 again. And that's okay.
Ideally, I'd like to lose somewhere between 18 and 28 pounds more. That would bring me between 150 and 160. I'll see how I look and feel as I get closer -- it's not really the number on the scale that matters.
I find I'm just not eating as much when I exercise. I don't feel as hungry and when I am, it's for healthier fare. I often skip dinner, or eat something light. When I'm not exercising, all those cravings and bad habits come rushing back, like after-dinner snacks, king-sized portions and chocolate. Boo!!
I've heard a lot of people say that eating late is a killer. It's great that you've been able to isolate that as a factor for you. Gives you one up on the munchy-monster we're fighting!
Okay Ladies... thanks to all your enthusiasm and encouragement, I joined the bandwagon and have lost 15 pounds so far! Thanks for sticking with it and setting a great example for me!
Awesome stuff Sue! I bet you feel so much better. I know I do. As of this morning down 35 lbs. 5 more to go to finish second goal of 20. After that..don't know. Maybe a short break then start again. I have to give in and buy some new clothes soon...baggy bras...baggier boobs!!! :)
Have a great one and keep up the good work.
